Private Tutoring for Reading, Comprehension, and Phonics

Are you looking for a tutor for your child going into 2nd – 4th grade?

Does your child need help with reading strategies and comprehension?

Lauren Manzke is a certified teacher with a Masters in ELL and Special needs. She has ten years of classroom experience as a teacher (including at Westerly Creek Elementary) and has been using the Orton Gillingham program with successful results for all learners.

WCE Summer Camp: CAMP EXPLORE (K-4th Grade)

Camp explore is a summer enrichment program at Westerly Creek Elementary. Activities will bolster academic skills in reading, math, and inquiry-based learning. Combined, we have over 30 years teaching experience that we use to plan multi-sensory activities for children entering K-4th grades.

Where: Westerly Creek Room #110

Who: Students entering K-4th grade for the 2019-2020 school year

Cost Per Session: Early Bird Registration is $170 (before March 22) & $190 after March 22

Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Session 1 – June 3-7: Inventors Workshop

Session 2 – June 10-14: Ooey Gooey

Session 3 – June 17-21: Habitats are Hip

The Great Summer Sports Camp 2019

WCE Summer Camp: Lost in the Love of Literacy

Sign your child up for one or all three of these enticing Summer Camps! Each camp is based on the Magic Treehouse series that will include hands-on experiences and connections to STEAM (Science Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). We will bring knowledge of what your student loves to read and write about during the school year and knowledge about what is developmentally appropriate for your child’s particular age group. There is no prior knowledge or literacy skills required. This camp will also embody the whole child through the Personal Success Factors and build confidence with daily team-building activities. The camp instructors are WCE teachers Kate Anderson and Lacey Robertus. Students heading into 2nd 3rd 4th or 5th grade are welcome to attend.

Cost: Regular Admission is $250 (after Spring Break), Early Bird Special is $225 (Before Spring Break), and Sibling Discount is $200 (for 2 or more student siblings)

Creative Writing Essentials

In this three day workshop, students will engage in writing activities within every major creative writing genre, from developing characters to crafting poetic imagery, in order to learn the most important elements of literary craft. Students will have the opportunity to learn and practice diverse creative techniques to help their writing become more artistic, vivid, and imaginative.

 

Rising 4th-8th grade

(2 options for session dates) June 25-27 -OR- July 16-18

The Poet’s Eye

In this three day workshop, young writers will learn what it means to be a poet before the pen even hits the page. Through engaging in a variety of imaginative  and reflective exercises with objects, environments, memories and artwork, students will find endless opportunities for writing poetry and will learn to render even the most ordinary parts of the world into extraordinary poems.
