Please Read: Early Release Day – 12:45 PM – Friday, April 27

Posted 04/20/2018

Dear Westerly Creek families,

DPS has been working extraordinarily hard and in partnership with superintendents across the state to press our state government to restore education funding to our schools and ensure our students and our educators receive the supports and compensation they deserve.

The statewide teachers’ association, the Colorado Education Association, is planning a statewide rally of educators on Friday, April 27, to advocate for greater state funding and expects that many of our teachers will participate. As such, we’ve been working with our teachers on a plan that will have as minimal impact as possible on our students and families.

Because of this, DPS has decided to schedule an early release day on Friday, April 27.

We’ve gathered information to help you plan for this early release day:

Our schedule:

On Friday, April 27, instruction will end at 12:00 p.m. and students will eat lunch in their classrooms. If you’d like to pick up your child(ren) at this time, that is an option.

Students will be released for the day at 12:45 p.m.

Lunch:

Students will eat lunch in the classroom at 12:00 p.m. Students may purchase a sack lunch from the cafeteria to eat in the classroom, if needed. There will be no hot lunch service on this day.

If you would like to purchase a sack lunch for your student(s) for April 27th, please notify their teacher by Monday, April 23rd.

Bus Transportation:

Students who ride the bus will be picked up from school at 12:45 p.m. and will be dropped off at their designated bus stop.

Discovery Link:

Discovery Link will be open from 12:45 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. for students who are currently enrolled.

If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at 720-424-3160 or jill_corcoran@dpsk12.org.

Sincerely,

Jill Corcoran
