Due to winter weather and poor travel conditions, Denver Public Schools will have a 100% remote learning day for all students on Monday, Oct. 26. Families whose students attend a charter school are asked to check with their school on the status for Monday’s classes.
All DPS school buildings and offices will be closed. Also, all Early Childhood Education classes are canceled. There will also be no curbside meal pickup and no bus meal delivery tomorrow.
We understand that this shift to remote learning on short notice does present challenges. Our students have already lost so much learning time due to the COVID-19 crisis, and we feel it’s important to do whatever we can to maximize academic instruction and support this school year.
Middle and high school students will continue with their scheduled remote learning.
Elementary and secondary school students who are enrolled in the DPS Virtual Program will continue with their scheduled remote learning.
Elementary school students who have been attending in-person classes will have a remote-learning day on Monday. It will also be a remote-learning day for all students who have been attending in-person learning at DPS Secondary Learning Centers, Newcomer Centers, and Center Programs for Students with Disabilities. Students who have access to their DPS-issued Chromebook are asked to log on for a “normal” remote day. Students who do NOT have access to their Chromebook and aren’t able to log on will have their attendance excused. Given the short notice for the shift to remote learning for tomorrow, we ask that our teachers who have been providing in-person instruction do their best to connect with their students on Monday and work to provide as much learning support as is possible under the difficult circumstances.
All DPS office buildings will be closed, and Central Support staff should work remotely. DPS Operational Staff should report for work responsibilities (snow removal and building support) as they would during a normal “snow day.”
