Melissa has lived all over the US, but grew up mostly outside of Philadelphia. While pursuing her Master’s in German, Melissa had her first opportunity to teach and fell in love with it! After two years teaching elementary English in Austria, Melissa joined Teach for America and taught special education in Las Vegas. She moved to Denver in 2011, for her husband’s job, worked for a year as a Montessori toddler teacher, and then had another baby. Melissa started in DPS as a long-term substitute and then taught 2nd and 3rd grade math after that. She loves advocating for all students and coaching teachers! In her free time, Melissa loves to cook (and eat), travel (especially cruises), and spend time with her husband, Lupe, and two kids, Brennan and Quincy. She is so excited to be a part of the amazing work happening at Westerly Creek!
